Elba is a charming community in Genesee County, New York in which friendliness, hard work, and community pride flourish. We are a picturesque town of multi-generational families, churches, fine sports teams, family farms and outstanding local artists.
Rich in history and agriculture, The Town of Elba is home to two of the nation’s top 100 farms as well as one of America’s most highly praised “community-supported agriculture” organic farms. In addition, several family dairy farms are located within our town.
Our 2500 acres of rich muckland soil yields a bounty of crops, most notably onions, earning Elba the title of “Onion Capital of the World.”
Located six miles north of Batavia, Elba has its own K-12 school, which is a source of pride and community spirit.
Elba is a friendly and close-knit place. Life here proceeds at a more human pace than in the cities and suburbs; people know each other and look out for one another. We welcome you, either as a visitor or a new neighbor!
The Daily News is the official paper where all of the town’s legal ads are published.
Town & Village of Elba, NY Comprehensive Plan and Community Survey
The Town and Village of Elba are preparing a Joint Comprehensive Plan, which will help guide decisions about land use, housing, infrastructure, recreation, public services, and the overall character of the community for the next 10-20 years. To make sure the plan truly reflects community priorities, we need to hear directly from residents. Your input will help identify needs, highlight opportunities, and guide investments that support strong, connected and vibrant Elba. Whether you’ve lived here for generations or are new to the community, your feedback is important. Please complete the online community survey. It has 28 questions and will take about 9-12 minutes to complete.
All survey responses are anonymous. You can feel comfortable giving honest answers to all questions, knowing that you will have complete confidentiality. The surveys will be open until February 28, 2026. The survey is available in English and Spanish.
Paper copies of the survey are available at the Town and Village offices. Additional project updates will be provided on the Town and Village websites. If you would like an email invitation to future public meetings for the Comprehensive Plan, please contact Elba Village Clerk at
clerktreasurer@villageofelba.com to be added to the project mailing list.
